PKRA Germany

After the world cup in Feurteventura we went straight to the 6th tour stop of the season in Sankt Peter Ording, Germany. Kristiin and me arrived 4 days before the event to get some training in at the competition area and we were very lucky to have wind every day. Germany is the biggest event of the season and with a maximum number of riders in almost all disciplines it was promising for 10 days full of the best kite action in the world.

This event I decided to register for slalom racing again. After my succes in Fuerteventura I was really motivated to also give it a try in Germany where there were 3 times as much entries. I knew it was going to be a totally different game since the forecast wasn’t showing a lot of wind. That means that they will run the slalom in light wind and the moment there is enough wind for freestyle they will switch immediately. Luckily I could borrow a 17m Turbine from the Slingshot testcenter. I knew it would be challenging to compete on a twintip agains all the girls on raceboards, but I was happy to be on the water while other freestylers were waiting for wind.

In total we completed 5 races, first you had to race to qualify for the finals and than fight for best position. I’m really happy I was able to get such a good result between all the dedicated racers and even winning one race!

Think Blue Kitesurf World Cup

The last two days of the event we could finally start with the main event freestyle. We didn’t have a lot of wind the first 8 days and we had to do quite some qualifiers to sort out which guys and girls could compete in the main event. I was very happy to start competing in my favorite discipline! The conditions were changing the whole day and I was stoked to be in the top 4 of the single elimination again. Mother nature provided good freestyle conditions and we were able to finish just before the end of the event. In the end I was able to defend my 4th place but couldn’t pull it off to win the heat for 3rd place.

At the moment I’m at home training for the next tourstop. I’m am very happy with again good results in both disciplines this worldcup and very motivated to keep going for more podium places!

After two weeks of training in Tarifa it was time to head to Fuerteventura for the 5th PKRA world cup of the season. I had never been there before but I heard about the classic very strong and gusty wind, so at least Tarifa was a good preparation with the strong offshore Levante.

slalom day 4

This event there was a second discipline; slalom racing. I had never done it before but decided to enter for fun and see if I was any good. After the first days of slalom I was in second place and on the last day in the very last two races I managed to overtake Bibiana and ended up first with only a very small difference. It was a very nice experience and I am definitely going to do more slalom when I have the chance.

But of course for me it’s all about freestyle. I was very happy to be 3rd after the single elimination. On the last day we had the lasts heats of the double elimination and again I had to defend my 3rd place against Bruna Kajiya from Brazil. I was very nervous because I really didn’t want to loose my podium place, so I was really happy when I heard that I won that heat. The next heat was against Gisela Pulido who was riding really strong. Unfortunately I couldn’t manage to land all my tricks while she was landing really powered and technical moves, which also made here win the event over Karolina Winkowska.

I am super stoked with my second podium place in freestyle. After the competition I went home and after only a day I went straight to Germany to train for the next world cup that starts in only 3 days.
