About Annelous:

I started kiteboarding in the summer of 2009 and she is addicted to the wind ever since. In November 2009 I had enough money to buy my first kite set and the cold couldn’t stop me from going. Every windy day I would cycle 17 kilometres to the Brouwersdam to go for a kitesession, and sometimes she would arrive when the wind was already gone. The guys from the beachclub Natural High saw this and helped me to get my first sponsors, not because of my level of kiteboarding but because they recognized the passion and motivation. After I finished high school I started to work as much as possible to save enough money to escape the Dutch winter. There were many days that I would wake up at 6am to chase the wind and to try to progress my riding.

After going to Brazil for four months I managed to progress my riding and pro riders told me I should start competing. This definitely pushed me to decide to compete in international competitions. In 2012 I became European Freestyle Champion and after another year competing on the European Tour I decided to focus on the world championships. The two following years, 2014 and 2015, I managed to get several podium places at the freestyle world cups and ended 4th place in the overall ranking. In an attempt to win some extra price money I decided to also compete in the discipline slalom and became vice world champion slalom in 2014.

In 2016 I decided to focus on a new discipline, Park Riding. I managed to win the video wildcard to the biggest park riding event, the Triple S invitational and his really got me into competing in park riding, After that I won my first Park Riding event, the Hood Jam 2016. In 2017, I won two out of the 4 events from the Kite Park League, the park riding world tour, and became 2017 Kite Park League Champion.
