Annelous started kiteboarding in the summer of 2009 and she is addicted to the wind ever since. Every windy day she would cycle 17kilometers to the Brouwersdam to go for a kite session, and sometimes she would arrive when the wind was already gone. The guys from the beachclub Natural High saw this and helped her to get my first sponsorship, not mainly because of her level of kiteboarding but because they recognized the passion and motivation. After she finished high school she started to work as much as possible to save enough money to escape the Dutch winter.
In 2012 Annelous became European Freestyle Champion and after another year competing on the European Tour she decided to focus on the world championships. The two following years, 2014 and 2015, she managed to get several podium places at the freestyle world cups and ended 4th place in the overall ranking. In an attempt to win some extra price money she decided to also compete in the discipline slalom and became vice world champion slalom in 2014.
In 2016 she decided to focus on a new discipline, Park Riding. She managed to win the video wildcard to the biggest park riding event, the Triple S invitational, and this really got her into competing in park riding, After that she won her first Kite Park League event, the Hood Jam 2016. In 2017, she won two out of the 4 events from the Kite Park League, the park riding world tour, and became 2017 Kite Park League Champion.
This year, Annelous managed to make her biggest dream from the past years come true, winning the 2019 Triple S Invitational, the biggest KPL event and this year even bigger than before with 70,000$ in prize money and equal pay for men and women.
