This year we started the new season with a new tour. The world tour changed from PKRA to VKWC; Virgin Kitesurf World Championships.

Like last year only the top 12 women and top 24 men can compete in the main event, but this year we only have 2 qualifier events instead of trials at every event. We had one in Morocco and we will have one halfway the season. Because of my 4th place in the overall ranking of 2014 I was prequalified so I had some extra days of training before the start of the main event.

After the qualification event which took place from the 18th till the 22nd of May we could start with the main event. The three different disciplines were freestyle, big air and wave. I decided to also compete in the big air competition next to my main discipline freestyle. The freestyle competition was held at one of the best spots in the world; the speedspot. Every morning trucks would take all the riders, judges, the organisation and a crazy amount of gear so we could compete in the butter flat water 1km downwind from the spot. It was very exciting but also a bit stressful to be competing again after the winterbreak and see the progression that the other competitors have made.

The level has never been so high and all the girls were killing it. Every heat was really hard and I was incredibly happy to make it to the semi finals.

It was a really good start of the season! A fourth place in freestyle and a 3rd place in the big air where I did my highest kiteloops so far.

The next competitions will be in the beginning of June in Venezuela with the disciplines freestyle and big air.
